Rising up the north face of the Great Pyramid

The pyramid of Khufu at its real slope and today's height: 138 blocks from the base to the top, about 230 blocks along each side, with the small queens' pyramids beside it.

The way in is on the north face, as in the real pyramid. From straight above you can see the four faces meet at the small flat top it has today.

Inside the Great Pyramid: the passages, the Grand Gallery and the King's Chamber

The passages and chambers are built where they are in the real pyramid and lit, so you can walk them: the descending and ascending passages with their granite plugs, al-Mamun's tunnel, the Grand Gallery, the Queen's Chamber and the King's Chamber with its sarcophagus.

Every passage is lit, so you can walk them without torches.

3Khafre's pyramid

High over the plateau: the Great Pyramid and Khafre's pyramid

The second pyramid stands to the south-west on higher ground, which is why it can look taller than the Great Pyramid. Near its top it keeps part of its smooth casing, as the real one does.

From the air you see the two pyramids with the fields of tombs between and around them.

It sits in the south-east corner of the world, about 40 blocks lower than the base of the Great Pyramid.

5Tombs and temples

Around the pyramids are the rows of mastaba tombs on their mapped outlines, the boat pits and the roofless temples, built as the ruins look today.

To the east the modern town begins at the edge of the plateau.

The tallest things in this world

Measured from the blocks: each structure's height above the ground around it. Names come from OpenStreetMap, where a building with a matching mapped height stands there; 6 more of the ten tallest have no name in the map data and are marked on the map only.

About this Giza map

Map data only knows the outlines of the pyramids and the Sphinx, so this is one of the places where BlockMap adds its own detailed models: the pyramids follow the survey (their real slope and today's height), the tombs sit on their mapped outlines and the Sphinx is carved at 1:1.

The Great Pyramid can be entered. The passages and chambers are built where they are in the real pyramid and lit, so you can walk from the entrance on the north face up the Grand Gallery to the King's Chamber.

The world is about 1 km around the Great Pyramid. Khafre's pyramid and the Sphinx are inside it; Menkaure's pyramid lies further south-west, outside this world, so search for it to make a world around it.

How we made this page

We made this world with the BlockMap app on 19 October 2026: search “Great Pyramid of Giza”, default look, Bedrock Edition, real terrain. It took 44 seconds on our servers and came out as a 2.4 MB .mcworld file.

We opened that same file in Minecraft Bedrock Edition and filmed it with a scripted camera that flies slow, planned paths (inside, it follows paths planned block by block through the rooms). Nothing in the world was changed for the camera. The overhead map and the numbers on this page are measured from the same file.

The map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors, with building data from the Overture Maps Foundation, land cover from ESA WorldCover, tree canopy from Meta and WRI, and elevation from the GEDTM30 terrain model. Worlds are built by the open-source Arnis engine, and this place has extra detail made by the BlockMap team.

Questions

How do I download this pyramids of Giza Minecraft map?

Install BlockMap on your phone, search Great Pyramid of Giza and tap Create. About a minute later the app opens the world in Minecraft, or gives you a download link for Java. Your first world is free.

Why search Great Pyramid of Giza and not Pyramids of Giza?

In the app's search, Pyramids of Giza first finds a copy of the pyramids in another country. Great Pyramid of Giza lands on the real pyramid, in the middle of the world.

Can I go inside the pyramid?

Yes. The passages, the Grand Gallery, the Queen's Chamber and the King's Chamber are built inside and lit.

Is the Sphinx in the same world?

Yes, in the south-east corner, about 540 blocks from the Great Pyramid. Search Great Sphinx of Giza to get a world centred on it instead.

Does this pyramid map work in Minecraft PE on my phone?

Yes. Minecraft PE (Pocket Edition) is now called Bedrock Edition, the Minecraft on phones and tablets. The app opens the world in Minecraft with one tap, and it appears in your worlds list.

Can I play it on a PC with Java Edition?

Yes. Choose Java in the app before you create the world, open the world's download link on your PC and unzip it into your saves folder. Java worlds need Minecraft Java 1.21.4 or newer.

Is it free?

Your first world is free. After that you can make a free world every 8 hours, or subscribe for unlimited worlds.
